We here at Photogenic do not have too many rules for submissions, however, the ones we do have are strict and should be common sense. Everyone who uses the site should feel safe while browsing and also see a variety of photos from different users. Not just the same person uploading the same thing over and over.

1. Photos should NOT contain nudity, hate messages, racism, slurs, propaganda, and any form of negative content.
People should be able to view our site and not feel threatened or offended with any of the content on it.

2. When it comes to voting, please vote only once per voting period.
Everyone who submitted a photo deserves a fair chance to win so please do not spam your vote.

3. Please limit youreself to ONE submission per day!
All of us want to see your photos, but the servers do not like being spammed.

Categories

Here at Photogenic we have four categories that we use for our photos.

Forests and Mountains - Pictures of forests and mountains with their different ecosystems, biomes, wildlife, etc.

The Sky - Any picture of the sky will do! Whether it be a city skyline, the northern lights, a beautiful sunset/rise, whatever, send it over!

Space - We love space here at Photogenic. Share with us your picures of planets, stars, galaxies, anything space related!

Bodies of Water - Bodies of water can create some of the most beautiful images out there. Rivers, lakes, oceans, we take them all.

+ What file formats are accepted for photo submissions?
We accept JPEG, PNG, and HEIF formats. Maximum file size is 15MB per image. For optimal display quality, we recommend images with a minimum resolution of 1920x1080 pixels.
+ Can I edit my submitted photos?
Basic editing such as color correction, cropping, and minor adjustments are allowed and even encouraged. However, heavily manipulated images or digital art should be clearly labeled as such in the description. We value authenticity in our nature photography.
+ How often are voting periods held?
Voting periods typically run for two weeks, starting on the 1st and 15th of each month. Winners are announced within 48 hours after the voting period ends. Check the homepage for current voting period dates.
+ How are winners determined?
Winners are determined by user votes. The photo with the most votes in each category wins that period's contest. In case of a tie, our panel of photography experts will make the final decision based on technical quality, composition, and creativity.
+ What happens if I want to submit to multiple categories?
You may submit to multiple categories, but please remember the limit of one submission per day across all categories. Choose your submissions wisely to maximize your chances in your preferred categories.
+ Are there any prizes for winning?
Yes! Winners receive featured placement in our Winner's Gallery, social media exposure, and occasionally prizes from our photography equipment sponsors. Special seasonal contests may offer additional prizes.
+ Can I delete my submission if I change my mind?
Yes, you can delete your submission at any time before the voting period ends. Simply log into your account, go to "My Submissions," and select the delete option for the specific image.
+ Do I retain copyright of my submitted photos?
Absolutely! You retain full copyright of your images. By submitting, you grant Photogenic non-exclusive rights to display your work on our platform and social media channels with proper attribution.
+ Can I submit photos taken with a smartphone?
Yes! We welcome photos taken with any device, including smartphones. Many modern smartphones produce excellent quality images. We judge based on the quality and content of the photo, not the equipment used.
+ How can I improve my chances of winning?
Focus on unique perspectives, good lighting, and proper composition. Share your submission with friends and social media followers to encourage voting. Most importantly, choose subjects you're passionate about - enthusiasm shows in your work!
